Low stimulation activities for a flooded system
By Bottle Me
When the nervous system is overwhelmed, the need is not distraction — it is low stimulation. The useful activities are quiet, bounded and end on their own.
The low-stim list
Paper colouring, knitting, a silent walk, watching rain, one page of a calm book. Each is low-novelty and has a natural end — the two properties that matter.
The screen caveat
Digital colouring is a screen, which is not ideal for a flooded system. With brightness down and Night Shift on, it is a reasonable compromise when paper is impossible — but paper is better.
Bounded by design
The key is the boundary: a finished page, a walked loop, a done bottle. Open-ended low-stimulation is still stimulation.
